Hermetia illucens larvae are gaining popularity in modern biotechnology due to their ability to process organic waste and produce high-quality protein. However, for the effective cultivation of these insects, it is necessary to study in detail the influence of various environmental factors on their development. Temperature and humidity are two key parameters that significantly affect the physiological processes in the body of insects.
The purpose of the study was to determine the optimal temperature and humidity conditions for the development of H. illucens larvae, as well as to investigate the effect of different regimes on such biological indicators as development speed, mass, survival and productivity.
The research was conducted in laboratory conditions. The larvae of H. illucens were kept in special containers with controlled temperature and humidity parameters. Several experimental groups were created with different combinations of temperature and humidity regimes. Larval mass, duration of development of each stage, survival and culture productivity were measured regularly.
The results of the study showed that temperature and humidity significantly affect all biological indicators of H. illucens larvae. High and low temperatures lead to slower development, lower weight and increased mortality. Humidity also played an important role. Too low humidity led to drying of the substrate and the death of larvae, while too high – to the development of pathogenic microorganisms.
Artificial breeding of the promising insect species Hermetia illucens is a complex process and requires a detailed study of the influence of various factors on the cultivation process. In particular, the influence of the temperature and humidity regime is important, which significantly affects such key factors as growth rate, feed conversion, survival and larval quality. During the study, the influence of the temperature range from +15 to +35o C was studied, as well as the humidity range from 30 to 90%. Studies have shown that the optimal temperature for the development of Hermetia illucens larvae is 26-29 ° C. In this temperature range, the larvae develop most quickly (14-15 days). Also, the most optimal temperature range for growing pupae is 26-32 ° C.
The obtained results confirm the importance of the temperature-humidity regime for the successful cultivation of H. illucens. Optimum conditions make it possible to achieve maximum culture productivity and obtain a high-quality protein product.
The study showed that the temperature and humidity regime is one of the most important factors affecting the development of H. illucens larvae. The determined optimal conditions can be used to create effective technologies for the cultivation of these insects. The obtained data are important for the development of biotechnology and solving the problems of organic waste disposal.
Further research may be directed at examining the influence of other factors, such as substrate composition, population density, and light regime, on larval development. It is also promising to study the genetic diversity of H. illucens and its influence on adaptation to different housing conditions.
